There are seven kindergartens in Ål; four are owned by the municipality and three are privately owned. The private kindergartens receive grants and guidance from Ål Municipality and cooperate with the municipality in many areas.

The kindergartens operate full time and are available for children 0 to 5 years of age. The exception is Sando Kindergarten, which accepts children from 2 to 5 years of age. Full-time and part-time space is available; and parents/guardians may choose from 2, 3, 4, and 5 days per week.
